Chevy Chase
Abundant clusters of intense raspberry-red flowers are
produced freely, but once-flowering only, in mid-summer.
Flowers are small to medium (2-2.5”) in size, very double
bloom form (65 petals) and lightly scented. Growth habit is
hardy, vigorous and spreading, average height is 15’ tall by 6-
8’ wide, forming long, thick, thorny branches with crinkled
pale green foliage. Prefers full sun and loamy, well-draining
soil. Ideal for pergolas and fences. Bred by Niels J. Hansen,
USA, 1939. At Old City Cemetery it is in Section M.

Don Juan
This is one outstanding climbing rose! Don Juan produces
velvety-red, full, cupped, 4-5” blooms with 40+ petals,
flowering throughout the season. Its prodigious blooms are
very fragrant with a wonderful tea rose/fruity scent, making
it an excellent cut flower. Grows up to 12-14’ tall by 6-8’
wide and has dark green, glossy foliage. One of the finest red
climbers ever. Prefers full sun and loamy, well-draining soil.
Bred by Michele Malandrone, Italy, 1958.

Dortmund is a bright cherry-red rose with a white eye
and ruffled, 3 1/2" lightly fragrant single blooms. A
repeat blooming climber with extra dark, holly-like
foliage, Dortmund’s flowers are followed by attractive,
orange hips making her a beauty in multiple seasons.
Prefers full sun but tolerates partial shade well. Grows
10-12’ tall by 7-8’ wide in moist, well-drained loamy
soil. Bred by the Kordes family, Germany, 1955. AT Old

Francis Dubreuil
Beautifully formed buds of almost black open to a full (26-40
petals) deep velvety crimson 3” red bloom. Flowers have a
medium-cupped form and moderate fragrance. Dark, glossy
green foliage shows off the stunning blooms. This plant is
quite vigorous and is easy to grow. It has a short growth
habit of 3-4’ tall by 2-4’ wide. Rebloom is excellent on this
very pretty, showy little shrub. Prefers full sun and loamy,
well-draining soil. Bred by Francis Dubreuil, France, 1894. At
